What Data We Access
Cookie Counter reads your Active Energy Burned data from Apple HealthKit to calculate how many cookies worth of calories you've burned throughout the day.
Important: We only read Active Energy data. We cannot access any other health metrics, personal information, or data stored in Apple Health.
How We Use Your Data
Your calorie data is used solely to display cookie equivalents within the app. Specifically:
- Calculate how many cookies you've "earned" based on calories burned
- Display daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly activity trends
- Send optional milestone notifications when you reach cookie goals
What We DON'T Do
We take your privacy seriously. Cookie Counter does NOT:
- Store your health data on any external server
- Share your data with third parties
- Use your data for advertising or marketing
- Perform data mining or analytics
- Sell your data to anyone
- Track your location
- Collect personal identifying information
Data Storage
All data remains on your device:
- Health data: Read directly from Apple HealthKit, never copied or stored
- Preferences: Your cookie type selection is stored locally using iOS standard storage
- Notifications: Notification settings are stored locally on your device
No health data is ever transmitted from your device.
Your Control
You have complete control over your data:
- Revoke access anytime: Go to Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Cookie Counter
- Delete the app: Removing Cookie Counter deletes all locally stored preferences
- Disable notifications: Manage notification settings in Settings > Notifications > Cookie Counter
Children's Privacy
Cookie Counter does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app is designed for general audiences and relies on Apple's parental controls for age-appropriate access.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last modified" date.
